2012 - Homage to the Interpreter

A2SL has just celebrated its 4th year in business.  As we enter our 5th year, we are very conscious of the work our interpreters have done in building this business.  Community interpreters are on call 24/7 even on holidays.  They wake up in the middle of the night to accept emergency work, or to sub for a sick colleague first thing in the morning.  Interpreters go out into all kinds of Colorado weather and are true road warriors braving the elements, risking life, limb, and the occasional speeding ticket, to provide communication access.  The work tirelessly interpreting stressful situations fraught with emotions, fast speakers and signers, extremely varied topics, and extended hours to get the work done.  Often our interpreters start early in the morning and finish late in the evening for a scant few billable hours, simply because the time of the work is spread out over a long day.  Whenever you see an interpreter that is overdressed for a job, think to yourself, "that poor thing has been out of their home too many hours this week to even get their laundry done." Sad but true!  They typically drive from one end of town to the other several times a day.  Trips to far flung locations in the state are not out of the question, either.  Professionals always analyzing situations for appropriate, ethical, decisions and behaviors.  They are juggling more in their heads than most people know; interpreters' arms flapping is just the visible tip of the iceberg. A2SL recognizes that without your work and dedication, we would just be an office.  INTERPRETERS, WE THANK YOU!!!!
